While Davion is still disoriented in the battle's aftermath, he is ambushed and robbed by bandits on the road, but awakens the next day with Mirana and Marci. Unable to remember details of the night before, he identifies Mirana as the Nightsilver Woods' Princess, a sore subject for her. Arriving in Hauptstadt and rooming at a small inn, Davion regurgitates a ring that is identified by a bandit as belonging to his slain compatriot who had robbed Davion two nights earlier. When the bandit swears vengeance, Davion tries to buy weapons, but nobody will sell to him given the bandit's threat...
