When the zombies arrive Norman and Max decide to stand their ground, but Virgil urges them that fighting is pointless and dangerous because the zombies are soulless and cannot be killed. His warnings are ignored, so Virgil escapes with the cap intending to destroy it to save both Max and Norman. Max and Norman remember that the cap is indestructible, but Virgil is willing to go so far as sacrificing himself for his friends.
