He learns that "with great power there must also always be great responsibility" after his Uncle Ben, husband of his Aunt May, is murdered by a thief who he failed to stop earlier from robbing a T.V. station, as he felt it was not his problem. Spider-Man is able to catch the thief and decides to use his powers responsibly from then on.
