Three years later, Rika and Satoko both pass their entrance exam and are admitted to St. Lucia's together. Rika is quickly noticed and doted upon by other girls at the school, while Satoko has a much more difficult time fitting in to the culture at St. Lucia's. When Satoko's grades begin to slip, Rika offers to help but is turned down as Satoko does not want to be judged by Rika's new friends. Satoko watches Rika enjoying tea and intellectual conversations with her new friends from a distance, angrily wondering if Rika had forgotten the importance of their friendship.
