Unknown to them the indigenous species of dragon is a group of small dragons with the ability to swarm in any shape they wish as to deter predators. After the group traps the leader dragon they realise how much danger they have put the others in, and a group of Changewings begin an attack. The dragon riders fight off the Changewings and free the leader. The leader then befriends the riders as the natural protecter of them and the island.
