After feeling inferior about his bento, Ryūji obsesses over trying to make a better bento. Even when Ryūji tries to bring instant noodles the next time, he is surprised when Yūsaku shows up with an even better instant soup. Since Ryūji ruins Taiga's lunch out of frustration, she decides to visit the family diner after class to eat by herself. The next day, Ryūji cheats by trying to use a rice cooker during class, but he is quickly foiled when the class finds out. Ryūji is upset that Yuri pulled the plug on his rice cooker, so Taiga hands him a container full of onigiri that she had made herself. However, the onigiri turns out to be too salty to eat. That night, Ryūji makes soup for the onigiri to be edible. Meanwhile, he realizes that his bentos are special because he cares about Taiga, just as Miyo's bentos are special because she cares about Yūsaku. The next day, Ryūji and Taiga go out for a picnic with their friends. Ryūji and Taiga are embarrassed when their friends force her to feed him.
